Venue plays a huge role in wedding photography. One of my favorite San Antonio Catholic churches to shoot at is The Sacred Heart Chapel at Our Lady of the Lake University, and one of my favorite reception venues (it has to be on every San Antonio wedding photographer's list) is the St. Anthony Hotel. This wedding was heaven, besides the gorgeousness and kindness of the couple, because I was at two of my favorite venues. Love, love love shooting at both of these places! So anyway, Ariel and Robert's wedding ceremony was filled with absolute love and support from family and friends. I love photographing Catholic weddings because I find the traditions and rituals so beautiful. (No, I'm not Catholic. I just love shooting Catholic weddings!) Everything from el lazo to the flowers presented to the Virgin Mary. Lucky for me, San Antonio has a lot of Catholic weddings each year! Enough about my obsessions.
After these two walked back up the aisle, as husband and wife, we did some quick family portraits and moved on to the reception! At The St. Anthony Hotel. Did I mention that already? Oh, I did? My bad. So when we arrived at the St. Anthony Hotel that is gorgeous we had a couple of minutes to do portraits of Ariel and Roberto before cocktail hour began in Peacock Alley. This area of the hotel has the most perfect afternoon light (you'll see when you get down to the portraits at the end of the post) and I was completely content to just stay there, photographing Ariel but it was time for her to join the end of cocktail hour and socialize with her guests. The reception area was just to die for. Decorated perfectly there was nothing about this wedding I could even imagine doing differently.
The ceremony was held at the Sacred Heart Chapel and the reception at the St. Anthony Hotel. Ariel's dress was discovered at Carolina's Bridal in McAllen, TX and Alma Garza was the florist. Power Sounds DJ took care of the cocktail hour and reception entertainment.
