Call me crazy, but when Dorian and Amy contacted me about photographing their downtown San Antonio wedding I was very excited. San Antonio has become my adopted hometown and I love working with couples who love this beautiful city as much as I do!
We started the day in room 228 at the First Presbyterian Church while rain was pouring down. Amy was getting the finishing touches put on her makeup before being helped into her dress by one of her bridesmaids. I genuinely love it when brides make their weddings unique to themselves and don't follow every single wedding trend or tradition. Not only did Amy have a Spurs garter, but she also wore lace up flats, and instead of the original necklace she was going to wear, she ended up wearing the necklace one of her bridesmaids had been married in! In a nearby room, Dorian was with his groomsmen and father getting ready for the ceremony. Vests were buttoned, boutonnieres were pinned on and shoes were tied.
Before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony as guests started to file into the pews. The ceremony was short and sweet, with Dorian beaming at his bride, clearly in love, both as she walked up the aisle and through the entire ceremony. After exchanging rings, the I Do's, and their first kiss as husband and wife the couple walked back up the aisle as a married couple.
On our way to the reception we stopped at a few places downtown San Antonio, near the Alamo, for some quick portraits of Amy and Dorian before ending up at the Calle Vista room at Rita's on the River. Decorated in all purples and blues with a wedding cake I only minorly geeked out upon seeing, the reception was a buzz of celebration from the moment the couple entered. Dinner, toasts, mingling with guests, cake cutting, dancing, and a custom Lego puzzle of the couple kept everyone busy until it was time to wish the couple off.
It was such a beautiful wedding for such a beautiful couple. I'm so excited to be able to share these photographs with you. Congratulations to Amy and Dorian, and here is to many happy, happy years together!
