Kandace and Santos were married on a perfect Texas evening at St. Joseph's, a Catholic Church near Spring Branch, TX. Their reception followed at the beautiful Honey Creek Ranch just up the road. Their ceremony was a traditional Catholic ceremony, however, there was a unique part of the ceremony I've never seen before. The bridal party gathered around the bride and groom during the exchanging of the rings and first kiss. I love how intimate and personal it made the moment, surrounded by their closest friends, (even if I did have a brief moment of panic thinking, "how am I going to capture their kiss with the entire bridal party and priests standing between the couple and everyone else?!" Don't worry, I got creative!). As we finished formal portraits of the family and bridal party at the alter, the final touches were being finished at the reception.
The reception location was so beautiful with so many beautiful areas to photograph the bride and groom at, more than we even had time to shoot at. Kandace and Santos had their first dance followed by the mother/son and father/daughter dances and cake cutting. I still am so happy to be able to shoot in Texas, where most of my weddings have a groom's cake in addition to the traditional wedding cake. Two cakes? Uh, yes please. And in case you didn't notice, I am completely obsessed with Kandace's dress. The layers, the material, the everything. I've never seen a dress quite like it. The even proceeded with plenty of dancing, hilarious toasts given by the Maid of Honor and Best Man, and then even more dancing. A mariachi band, and more dancing. One of the guests completely owned the dance floor with Michael Jackson's song, Thriller, came on, and the planned Grand March got all the guests up and on their feet!
We ended the night with a sparkler exit for Kandace and Santos, and the beautiful couple were on their way to their honeymoon!
