While weddings are my absolute passion and joy, from time to time I have the opportunity to explore other fields of photography. Collective Souls Home Interiors opened to the public this month at 2322 San Pedro Ave., in San Antonio, I was able to photograph the store and some of their vast array of merchandise. There were already customers browsing the many paintings, vast array of furniture and decorative items as I looked around and captured my experience of this store. Besides the atmosphere and customer service, I was overwhelmed with a sense of comfort and home, this local business truly stood out to me as I looked at the pricing on their products.
I was sitting down with the owner, Karen, and she shared a story about a store she absolutely loved years ago, that was part of her inspiration for Collective Souls Home Interiors. She'd visit this store on a regular basis, and while she absolutely loved the atmosphere of the store and their merchandise, there was nothing in her price range. When you really love everything about a store that can be heartbreaking! From this experience blossomed her store, Collective Souls Home Interiors, and it was refreshing to visit a store that offers something for every price point.
Enjoy a virtual walk through Collective Souls Home Interiors, but be warned. If you fall in love with any of their merchandise pictured below, it might already be sold, and unlike nation-wide home decor stores, Karen isn't buying from huge, factory assembly lines that churn out millions of identical products. Each item is unique, many are hand-made or antique, and most of the paintings are by local artists, including a current collection by Armando Sanchez.
